During his 40 year career as a Consulting Civil Engineer he was responsible for managing many large Construction Contracts. This experience resulted in frequent appointments as an Expert Witness where his knowledge and experience helped to settle many disputes.
-
His interest in mediation grew from contact with litigation and an increasing belief that it was not the best way for settling disputes. He saw at first hand that mediation resolved conflicts with maximum satisfaction and minimum expense.
-
James trained as a mediator in 2001 and was accredited by The Academy of Experts and admitted to membership of The Faculty of Mediation & ADR in February 2002.

During his career he has also acted as a Construction Adjudicator, Expert Determiner and Expert Witness in the fields of Building, Civil Engineering,
Health & Safety and Personal Injury and also as a Party Wall Surveyor. In these roles he has dealt with construction issues and boundary disputes and this has provided him with great insight into the process of dispute resolution.
