Inheritance

A young son and his newly wedded wife lived with his aged parents in a house that his parents had given to the couple on their marriage.

A year after the marriage the son died and his wife inherited the house.

The aged parents claimed that the house was rightly theirs as it had been bought as a family home.

The widow, who had borne her late husband's son some eight months after his death, denied this claim.

An agreement was reached whereby the widow accepted that she would hold the house in trust for her son until he reached the age of twenty one years.

She also agreed that her husband's parents would be permitted access to their grandson.
